This position is being offered on a full-time temporary basis working 35 hours per week from June 2018 to May 2019.  

 

Preferred Background:
The successful candidate must possess an under-graduate degree in Communications, Digital Communications, Marketing, Visual Communications and Design or a related field. Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Dreamweaver, Adobe Premier and After Effects is required along with proficiency in HTML and CSS, ability to code webpages and emails. In addition, the individual will require knowledge of leading practices in internal and external communications and media relations. The candidate must be capable of planning and implementing work in an organized manner under tight deadlines while working collaboratively with others.  Please include a link on your resume to a portfolio with samples of your work.

 

The candidate is expected to

·         Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills

·         Demonstrate experience writing for various audiences using clear and concise messages as well as accessible/plain language

·         Possess superior time management and organizational skills and ability to manage work flow to complete high-quality work on time

·         Exhibit a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office product and social media platforms

·         Be self-motivated and capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team

·         Exhibit an understanding of government, exercise political acuity and portray a professional demeanor
·         Behave in a manner that contributes to healthy and safe work environment, and positive workplace culture

 

Working Conditions: 

Occasional travel within Halton Region will be required and incumbent must provide their own transportation.  The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid Class G driver’s license and will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment.

 

To be eligible to apply for an intern position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number at time of hire.
  • You have graduated or will graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree, post-graduate certificate or diploma between January 2017 and June 2018.

Duties:

·         Support the content migration for the implementation of the new Halton.ca

·         Ensure and maintain quality of the website content and overall experience finding opportunities to continually improve the content and experience.

·         Review website inventory and perform routine maintenance audits of website content, images, active/inactive pages, etc.

·         Design, track, monitor and analyze specific campaigns and social media activities to support the implementation of the Corporate Communication Strategy.

·         Design, produce and publish short videos using Adobe Premier and After Effects

·         Photography for use in design of print and digital communications, as well as providing photography and video support at Regional events

·         Publish web content including text, images, video and portable document format collateral using industry standard languages (HTML 5.0, CSS, Javascript, JQuery)

·         Maintain key areas of the Region’s intranet site

·         Perform other duties as assigned.
