This is a temporary full-time position working 35 hours per week from June 2017 to June 2018.

Preferred Background:
The successful candidate must possess an under-graduate degree in Business Administration, Economics or Accounting. 
Knowledge of general accounting and auditing procedures such as: balancing and reconciling of accounts; payment processes; financial statement preparation, financing, budgeting and general financial controls is required. The candidate must be capable of planning and implementing work in an organized manner, working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment.


The candidate is expected to:

  • Demonstrate excellent communication, financial analysis and problem solving skills, including attention to detail
  • Possess superior time management skills and able to manage work flow in order to complete work on time and as expected
  • Exhibit a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel
  • Knowledge of enterprise based financial systems is an asset
  • Be self-motivated capable of working in a team environment and independently
  • Behave in a manner that contributes to healthy and safe work environment, and positive workplace culture

To be eligible to apply for an intern position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number at time of hire.
  • You have graduated or will graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree, post-graduate certificate or diploma between January 2016 and June 2017. 
  • Support the development of the annual budget including updating models, formatting tables, consolidating data, editing and proof-reading the budget book
  • Work with Financial Analysts to analyze and project operating variances, including tax write-offs and other payments from the Local Municipalities
  • Support the review of Development Allocation Agreements including quarterly letters, collections and filing of Agreements
  • Prepare analysis to assist with year-end tasks related to Development Charge collections and deferred revenue calculations, capital funding reviews, accrual entries and reserve reconciliations
  • Support the monthly review of unspent capital funding, including running reports and reconciling changes between fiscal periods
  • Assist with the semi-annual capital variance reporting processes including consolidating data, supporting Financial Analyst's in program reviews and  preparing financial analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
