Financial Analyst

This is a permanent full-time position working 35 hours per week.



Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning and Budgets this role provides analytical and data analysis for various projects.


Preferred Background:
The successful candidate must possess a degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting along with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in financial roles. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to develop and deliver accurate financial analysis and presentations for stakeholders within critical timelines. In addition, advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and Powerpoint) are required.  Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary to effectively communicate with peers and senior management.  Knowledge of municipal finance and the SAP management information system are assets. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Participates in improving the reliability and relevance of financial models and information;
  • Supports the preparation of financial analysis for assessment and annual property tax policy.
  • Provides the financial analysis and communication materials in support of the preparation and the presentation of the annual operating budget and ten year forecast.
  • Prepares various financial analyses in support of the annual budget maintenance (including variances) and year-end financial reporting. 
  • Assists in the division-wide project management.
  • Produces management and operational reports;
  • Support various ad/hoc request for analysis and trends of project data;
  • Strong documentation skills (Capable of writing clear and well-structured business documents);
  • Undertakes financial analysis for special projects.
