This is a permanent full-time position working 35 hours per week.

 

Preferred Background:
The successful candidate will have a degree or diploma in business or supply chain management or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years’ progressive experience in procurement, sourcing and contract/supplier management. Certification from a Professional Purchasing Program (CPPB, CPP designation or equivalent) is preferred. Strong customer service, problem solving, organizational, planning, communication, analytical and negotiation skills are essential. The ability to multi-task, work independently and in a team is required as is flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and tight deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. Experience with SAP an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

 

Duties

  • Responsible for the procurement of goods and services to ensure maximum cost effectiveness in a timely manner in accordance with the Purchasing by-law, policies and procedures.
  • Manages the procurement process for goods and services, develops tendering documents, prepare detailed analysis, related staff reports and bid administration. 
  • Provides assistance and/or consultation services to client departments on new initiatives, assists clients to determine their requirements, and directs clients to ensure that purchasing policies and procedures are followed.
  • Develops and prepares reports for project scheduling, statistics and purchasing activity.
  • Prepares formal negotiation strategy, leads negotiations and prepares related documentation.
  • Assesses procurement practices and templates to develop efficient and consistent forms and practices.
  • Researches markets, benchmarks pricing and reports on statistics and trends including forecasting of future pricing information.
  • Maintains a standard of integrity and professionalism in all business relationships both inside and outside the Corporation.
  • Provides contract management for various contracts.
  • Provides on-going contract administration for multi-year contracts.
  • Develops and maintains work plans with clients on a regular basis.
  • Co-ordinates and/or provides on-going purchasing training to clients on needs identification, effective specification requirements, evaluation criteria, liability and risk for bid document formulation..
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
