Information Technology Asset Analyst

This is a permanent full time position working 35 hours per week.



Reporting to the Manager, Technology & Infrastructure, this position will be responsible for the management and administration of all IT software and technology-related hardware within the organization. This includes planning, analyzing and maintaining records and databases containing information regarding licenses, warranties, and service agreements for the Region's hardware and software assets. This individual will assist in forming procurement strategies to optimize technology spend across the organization. The IT Asset Analyst will also develop and implement procedures for tracking Regional IT assets to oversee quality control throughout their lifecycles.


Preferred Background:

The successful candidate will possess post-secondary education in Information Technology or related discipline, with a minimum of five (5) years experience in the Asset Management field within an Enterprise with over 5000 endpoints. Strong familiarity and technical competence with asset management software and/or inventory-tracking systems is required Knowledge of complex vendor software contracts, licensing terminology, and software licensing rights, especially for major software vendors (SAP, IBM, Oracle and Microsoft) is required. Strong familiarity with software and hardware discovery tools and their capability is required. Knowledge of VMware Virtual Center, Microsoft SCCM, and Active Directory, as well as Windows Operating systems and networking preferred. Experience with financial budgeting and forecasting would be an asset with proven results in hardware/software cost avoidance/savings. Demonstrated experience in leading or participating in an IT Asset Management lifecycle process is an asset. Strong skills using the suite of Microsoft Office products (advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred). ITIL, CSAM CHAMP or CTAM certifications would be an asset. To succeed in this role, the incumbent must possess excellent verbal and written presentation skills, strong analytical, research and client service skills. A combination of education and experience will be considered.



·         Analyze hardware and software data accumulated from various transaction systems and systems of record including HEAT, SCCM, MS Access, SQL database).

·         Provides customized reports in order to ensure proper lifecycle management of all IT hardware and software assets.

·         Interprets, analyzes, & summarizes IT contracts, and evaluates pricing and licensing proposals.

·         Manages, prioritizes, plans and rationalizes capital funding requirements for all IT Assets

·         Formulates and implements processes and procedures for tracking and analyzing technical and financial data of company software, hardware, and equipment from requisition through retirement

·         Provides Operating and Capital budgetary forecasting to departments and Information Technology to support all IT assets.

·         Conducts software/hardware audits and performs asset inventories and makes best practice recommendations.

·         Orders and tracks IT assets for Information Technology and act as a liaison for vendors of IT hardware and software devices and their respective licensing agreements.

·         Produces annual State of Good Repair reports and dashboards (or equivalent) for all IT hardware and software assets. Develops and delivers presentations and recommendations.

·         Analyzes and accurately maintains asset data within the CMDB (Configuration Management Database).

·         Manages plans and coordinates assets for disposal, including annual reporting of IT Tangible Capital Assets (TCA).

·         Develops strategies in accordance with enterprise wide IT purchasing standards and procedures.

·         Maintains and manages all Regional IT hardware assets for departmental chargeback purposes.

·         Minimizes organizational cost through product standardization and tracking

·         Establishes policies and procedures for inventorying, tracking assets, and reporting on information technology related assets.

·         Develops SOPS for the asset management lifecycle of Information Technology assets.

·         Leads the review, validation and execution of departmental IT asset related requests to ensure business requirements are met in compliance with corporate IT hardware software standards and guidelines

·         Conducts and reports software asset reconciliation and audit activities on a timely basis, including financial, licensing, warranty, and maintenance/support contract information.

·         Manages and execute the receiving, registering, and preparation of new assets for deployment

·         Provides expertise to staff as required to resolve asset related incidents or requests.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.
