This is a temporary full-time position working 35 hours per week from June 2017 to June 2018.

Preferred Background:
The successful candidate must possess an under-graduate degree a Computer Science program from a recognized Community College or University. Technical expertise with Windows 7 – 10, Microsoft Server including Exchange 2010, SQL Server and SCCM are essential. Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN configuration and design, VPN, firewalls, wireless networking and TCP/IP is required.  Excellent oral written and presentation skills are necessary. Strong verbal and written communications skills along with the ability to work independently and within a team environment are required.

 

The candidate is expected to:

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Possess superior time management skills and able to manage work flow in order to complete work on time and as expected
  • Exhibit a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of enterprise based financial systems is an asset.

To be eligible to apply for an intern position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number at time of hire.
  • You have graduated or will graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree, post-graduate certificate or diploma between January 2016 and June 2017.

Duties:

  • Delivers hardware and software support by responding, analyzing, researching and resolving technical issues via telephone, remote access, or onsite, ensuring service levels are met. 
  • Assists with the installation, configuration and testing of new servers and upgrades to existing servers and network infrastructure.
  • Maintains security compliance of the Region’s mobile workforce through hard drive and USB encryption and Symantec End-Point Protection, through regular maintenance, audit and reviews.
  • Maintains Enterprise Data Protection (backups and restores) through IBM TSM for physical servers, Exchange mail and VMware ESX resources.
  • Monitors network and server performance and identifies when corrective action is required.
  • Creates, manages, inventories, and monitors enterprise application packages through Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
