This is a temporary full-time position working 35 hours per week from June 2017 to June 2018.

Preferred Background:
The successful candidate must possess a university degree in Health Promotion, Business Administration or other Health related field. Knowledge of continuous quality improvement, business process mapping, change management and LEAN experience would be a definite asset. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are a must as are project management skills. A
bility to facilitate effective meetings, develop and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences is essential.


The candidate is expected to:

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills including polished writing and the ability to deliver professional presentations
  • Have a good understanding of health promotion/health communications including familiarity in developing and implementing engagement strategies
  • Be familiar with traditional and new media technologies, trends and best practices
  • Possess superior project management and time management skills with the ability to manage work flow in order to complete work on time and as expected
  • Foster good interpersonal relations and successfully work with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Exhibit strong analytical, organizational, research and problem solving skills
  • Be self-motivated capable of both working in a team environment and independently
  • Exhibit proficiency in the use of  Microsoft Office products
  • Behave in a manner that contributes to a healthy and safe work environment, and positive workplace culture

Working Conditions: 

Travel will be required within Halton Region; incumbent must provide their own transportation. The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment.


To be eligible to apply for an intern position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number at time of hire.
  • You have graduated or will graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree, post-graduate certificate or diploma between January 2016 and June 2017.


  • Provide assistance to the policy and procedure program including implementing continuous quality improvements that support recommendations from the Health Department policy/procedure review
  • Support the physician engagement strategy, including planning Continuing Medical Education (CME) events for physicians on important public health topics
  • Conduct business process reviews and recommend actions that support improved effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives and standards that support and enhance efficiencies, and reduce risk.
  • Assist with coordination requirements arising from the release of the revised Ontario Public Health Standards.
  • Write high quality policies, procedures, reports, project management documents, business cases, training materials and other documents.
  • Promote and actively contribute to a climate of positive change and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
