This is a permanent full time position working 35 hours per week.

 

Purpose:

Reporting to the Director, Economic Development, the Manager, Entrepreneurship Services is responsible for the delivery of programming and services set out in Halton Region’s Economic Development Strategic Implementation Plan 2012 – 2021 which support Halton entrepreneurs to start-up, manage and grow their businesses.

 

Preferred Background:
The successful candidate will possess a degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or related discipline combined with four to seven years managerial experience in economic development or business support organizations.  The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and communications skills to manage a professional team.  The successful candidate will have the ability to develop strong networks in the community and work with public and private sector partners in support of entrepreneurship service delivery.  Must possess a thorough understanding of small business development, including business planning, financing, sales and marketing among others.  Strong coaching and customer service skills to ensure excellence in entrepreneurship service delivery.  Excellent project management and multi-tasking skills and ability to work in a multi-stakeholder environment.  Strong knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal government legislation affecting small business development.  Strong knowledge of provincial entrepreneurship networks.  Experience managing a small business is desirable.

 

Working Conditions:

Travel will be required, incumbent must provide their own transportation. The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment.

 

Duties:

·         Leads the Region’s Small Business Enterprise Centre and ensures the successful delivery of a suite of entrepreneurship services across various service channels to support entrepreneurs to start-up, manage and grow their businesses. 

·         Manages a team of professional staff who provide strategic business information to entrepreneurs and coaches team members through complex client situations in order to achieve customer service success.

·         Prepares annual business plans for Provincial funding partners with respect to the Region’s Small Business Enterprise Centre and for provincially funded entrepreneurship programming and provides monthly reporting to the Province detailing customer contacts and outcomes.

·         Oversees the development and maintenance of all content for the Small Business Enterprise Centre, including, web, social media and presentations and oversees the customer service relationship system.

·         Develops and maintains strategic relationships with the Halton Local Municipalities, senior levels of government, chambers of commerce, business improvement areas and other business support organizations in advancing the delivery of entrepreneurship services across Halton.

·         Oversees the successful delivery of senior government funded entrepreneurship programs including Starter Company Plus, Summer Company and Futurpreneur among others.

·         Works closely with the Manager, Economic Development and other stakeholders in the development, promotion and implementation of programs that support Halton small and medium sized enterprises to scale-up and go-global.

·         Manages the delivery of entrepreneurship services in various community locations across Halton.

·         Works with the Director, Economic Development in the development of the annual budget for the Small Business Enterprise Centre.
