This is a permanent full time position working 35 hours per week.



Preferred Background:

Reporting to the Manager of Water Treatment this position requires a degree or diploma in Civil or Environmental Engineering with strong financial management and communication skills to interface effectively with internal staff, consulting engineers, Provincial Approval Agencies, contractor, suppliers, and the general public.  Proven knowledge of the principles and practices of the physical, chemical, and biological aspects of water systems is required.  Excellent project management, planning, analytical, decision making, and problem solving skills along with excellent customer service skills, report writing, presentation, and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite in combination with a solid understanding of data management and applications are required.  Familiarity with SCADA, eRis and the Drinking Water Quality Management Systems (DWQMS) is preferred.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.


Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, by the first day of employment. Travel will be required incumbent must provide their own transportation. The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment.



  • Provides technical, administrative, and analytical support to the divisions management team as well as water staff related to technical projects and issues at the water plants throughout the Region.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and analyzes data relative to plant performance in order to proactively identify potential problems and recommend solutions.
  • Interprets and reviews compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure operational practices and procedures are up-to-date.
  • Researches and makes recommendations related to new technologies for the operation and maintenance of water treatment equipment.
  • Provides technical assistance related to the design and construction of water treatment plants.
  • Provides support to operations staff to assist with the implementation and maintenance of the Region’s DWQMS and Integrated Management System.
  • Assists in the preparation of tenders for contracted services.
  • Reviews budget preparations and cost estimates for assigned projects.
  • Assists with the collection of information required for benchmarking and performance management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
