CADD Specialist I and II

This are two (2) permanent full-time positions available, working 35 hours per week.


The Region is seeking two (2) individuals to fill CADD Specialist I or II positions, depending upon their

education and experience.



Reporting to the Supervisor of Technical & Design Services, these positions provide CADD support and design expertise for Regional infrastructure replacement projects.

Preferred Background: 

Qualifications for a CADD Specialist I include a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an OACETT accredited college or other recognized institution along with a minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience. For the CADD Specialist II, a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an OACETT accredited college or other recognized institution is required, along with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience. Proven skills with Civil 3D pipes, sections, volumes, grading, ditches, assemblies and corridor modeling and experience in contributing to a Technical Design Report are also required.


Successful candidates must demonstrate proven experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D software and manual drafting, along with experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel. The incumbents will be detail-orientated and possess strong analytical/mathematical skills coupled with excellent oral/written communication skills.  Prior municipal construction inspection or contract administration experience is an asset.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 


As part of the interview process a Civil 3D test will be given utilizing version 2016 software.


Working Conditions:

These positions will attend design and construction site visits and meetings as required within Halton Region. Incumbents must supply own transportation. The successful candidates will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a valid Ontario driver’s license.



·         Conduct project research from internal and external sources.

·         Compile base plans using survey data, historical information, cctv reports and permit information.

·         Perform field edits.

·         Prepare survey request letters and compiles supporting documents

·         Design water, wastewater and small road projects under the direction of a Project Manager.

·         Understand and apply relevant standards and legislated regulations; check internal and external drawings for compliance to standards.

·         Correspond and work in conjunction with utilities, local municipalities and government agencies; represent the Region at project and public meetings. Perform engineering design and calculations on capital projects; complete and verify design calculations.

·     Perform manual drafting as required.

·     Update drawings to “As Constructed” status.  Archive “As Constructed” drawings accordingly.

·     Participate in job rotations/shadowing within the various departments of Technical Services.

·         Create maps for various groups within Halton Region.

·     Perform other duties as assigned.
