This is a temporary full-time position working 35 hours per week from June 2017 to June 2018.

Preferred Background:
The successful candidate must possess an under-graduate degree in social sciences, business management and organization, urban planning, public administration, or related discipline. Broad knowledge of municipal human services with research and analytical skills including tools and processes for assessment, business process improvement, communication and information management is required. Project management training is an asset. The individual must also be able to work collaboratively with others and foster a coordinated and integrated approach to the work.

 

The candidate is expected to:

  • Collaborate with others to problem solve and identify measures of success
  • Possess superior time management skills and able to manage work flow in order to complete work on time and as expected

  • Behave in a respectful and tactful manner that contributes to a  healthy and safe work environment, and positive workplace culture

Working Conditions: 

Travel may be required; incumbent must provide their own transportation. The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment.

 

To be eligible to apply for an intern position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number at time of hire.
  • You have graduated or will graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree, post-graduate certificate or diploma between January 2016 and June 2017.
Duties:
  • Support to Community Safety and Well Being Planning and Social Procurement research
  • Support to the development of a departmental information management strategy
  • Monitor corporate strategic plan commitments to ensure the progress reports are updated monthly.
  • Contribute to business process improvements across multiple program areas
  • Support business transformations through the introduction of new information technology
  • Support service coordination and integration work across departmental lines of business including environmental scan of other jurisdictions and setting up of inter-divisional working committee
  • Engagement in select information technology initiatives (LTC scheduling, Yardi)
  • Draft policies and procedures as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
