This is a temporary full-time position working 35 hours per week from June 2017 to June 2018.

Preferred Background:

The successful candidate must possess an under-graduate degree in Social Sciences, Humanities or Business.  Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Experience with conducting research and analyzing data would be considered an asset.

 

The candidate is expected to:

  • Possess superior time management skills and able to manage work flow in order to complete work on time and as expected
  • Exhibit a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Working Conditions: 

Travel will be required within Halton Region; incumbent must provide their own transportation. The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment.

 

To be eligible to apply for an intern position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number at time of hire.
  • You have graduated or will graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree, post-graduate certificate or diploma between January 2016 and June 2017.
Duties:
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of Employment Halton and Social Services projects, including but not limited to collecting and analyzing data as well as writing reports and business cases. 
  • Support the implementation of the Harder to Employ Working Group recommendations.  This will include program design, working with internal groups (staff and management) to move certain recommendations forward and creating business cases to be submitted to the Ministry for consideration of policy changes.
  • Support the review and implementation of a centralized Employment Halton and Social Services intake process
  • Support the work of the interdepartmental group that is focused on Syrian refugees
  • Conduct research and review and analyze data
  • Support goals identified on the Division’s 2017 operational plan
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
