            This is a temporary full-time position working 35 hours per week, up to twelve (12) months.



Reporting to the Supervisor, Quality and Community Development, this position is responsible to design, deliver and coordinate professional development education events and activities to increase the quality of child care/children’s services in Halton.


Preferred Background:

The ideal candidate will possess a diploma in Early Childhood Education or degree in Early Childhood Studies from a recognized Community College or University, must be registered in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators and must have a diploma or training in adult education. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Quality Child Care and School Age settings and a minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience are needed to consult with and support Early Learning and Child Care programs in Halton (children 0-12 years). Comprehensive knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, Quality First and How Does Learning Happen is required along with up to date knowledge of community supports for families and children’s programs. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, planning, organizational, time management, project management and facilitation and presentation skills.  Proficient computer skills to develop and deliver professional development are required. Certification from the Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario (AECEO) and French language skills are assets.

Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screen by the first day of employment. Travel within Halton Region is required; incumbent must provide their own transportation. Incumbent will be required to perform evening and weekend work as needed.



·         Provides consultation to the Early Learning and Child Care sector using excellent observation, consultation, coaching and communication skills.

·         Designs, prepares, markets and delivers professional learning opportunities and resources for the early learning and child care community in Halton using various methods, including Webinar format.

·         Works in conjunction with the team, other Divisional staff, Ministry of Education, supervisors and directors of children’s programs in Halton to enhance the delivery of services, including consultation and setting goals and objectives for continuous quality improvement.

·         Works in collaboration with the ongoing administration, operation and development of The Halton Resource Connection and its programs and services.

·         Works in collaboration with others on a variety of projects to support and enhance the delivery of service to children’s programs in Halton.

·         Supports the Children’s Services Division and Social and Community Services Department by providing professional learning, resources and projects where appropriate.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.
