This document was developed for the purpose of reducing the risk of transmission of bloodborne and other infections to clients and employees of personal service settings. All personal service setting operators are responsible for ensuring that infection prevention and control precautions are taken by themselves and all staff members.

This document applies to but is not limited to:

  • hairdressing and barber shops.
  • tattoo and body piercing studios.
  • electrolysis.
  • acupuncture and various aesthetic services.
  • any facility or person where there is a risk of exposure to bloodborne and other infections.

General personal service setting guidelines as well as specific requirements to each area of practice are included.
