The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a Food Recall Warning for One Heart Organics brand Swiss Chard Pesto due to the potential presence of dangerous bacteria. The product was recently available for sale at Salon Pure Environment, located at 106 Guelph Street in the community of Georgetown.
CFIA testing confirmed the product may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum producing a dangerous toxin which causes botulism. Residents should not consume the recalled product. Residents who have purchased the recalled product should discard it or return it to the store where it was purchased. Symptoms of botulism can include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, blurred or double vision, dry mouth, respiratory failure and paralysis. In severe cases of botulism, the illness may cause death. If you think you have become sick from consuming the recalled product, call your doctor immediately.
