Halton Small Business Centre celebrates International Women’s Day with business event for women entrepreneurs

The Halton Region Small Business Centre, in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment, will once again host a business event for Women Entrepreneurs on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. The event, held in celebration of Women’s Day, will be held at the OE Banquet Hall & Conference Centre, 2245 Speers Road, Oakville, from 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

“Halton Region is committed to achieving sustainable economic prosperity by providing local entrepreneurs with the proper supports and services they need to achieve success,” said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr. “Through our partnership with the Province, this event will offer attendees an opportunity to learn from industry leaders and to network with key organizations.”

For the $30.00 registration fee, participants will have the chance to listen to three inspiring keynote speakers including Fay Chapple, international speaker, author and success coach, Audie McCarthy, The Marrek Group and Juliet Aurora from AIS Solutions. The session will also include a series of “local spotlight” success stories and a chance to network with other participants. Breakfast is included.

According to Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey External Link, there were 950,000 self-employed women in Canada in 2011. This accounts for about one third of all self-employed individuals. Between 2001 and 2011, the number of self-employed women grew by 23 per cent compared with 14 per cent growth in male self-employment.
