Underpass construction begins on Derry Road in Milton

Underpass construction begins on Derry Road in Milton

Release Date: Jun 11, 2013

Starting the week of June 17, 2013, Halton Region will begin the construction of a new underpass at the CN tracks on Derry Road between Scott Boulevard and Bronte Street in the Town of Milton.

The construction of the new four-lane underpass will include new on-road bike lanes and a multi-use pathway. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and use caution when travelling through the area. A map of the affected roadway and project updates can be found on Halton’s website under Regional Construction Projects.

The new underpass will provide improved service by eliminating the existing at-grade rail crossing on Derry Road. CN has already begun relocating the tracks to accommodate the construction work and is expected to be finished by the end of August.

The Derry Road / CN Grade Separation project is part of Building a Better Halton, the Region’s infrastructure construction plan for roads, water, wastewater and waste management projects across Halton Region. For more information, visit www.halton.ca/construction.
