What is a sanitary lateral pipe?

A sanitary lateral is an underground pipe designed to transport wastewater from inside your home to the municipal wastewater/sanitary system under the street.

Why do I need to repair the lining of my lateral pipes?

Over time, lateral pipes can become substandard as a result of various issues such as cracks, root penetration or ponding. Substandard lateral pipes can cause poor drainage or blockages which can increase the risk for basement flooding.

What is Halton doing to help?

Halton Region offers financial support for residents who need to repair their lateral pipe. The subsidy covers 50% of the eligible costs up to a maximum of $2,000.
